Looking for a fun project to do with your cat? Then check out the new book Cat Castles: 20 Cardboard Habitats You Can Build Yourself by Carin Oliver. This little book is packed full of beautiful photos and easy to follow instructions for 20 different DIY cat projects that will help you create something your cat will love!

DIY Cat Projects

I’m actually really excited about this book, because it’s about a lot more than just DIY craft projects, it’s about the true essence of Catification. The book encourages cat guardians to get to know their cat in order to create something that suits their cat’s preferences. You can customize all the projects specifically for your cat, that way you know they will appreciate your efforts.

The projects are all designed to be made from inexpensive, easy to find materials, just like Jackson and I proposed in our two books Catification and Catify to Satisfy, this stuff doesn’t have to be expensive! Cat Castles has a materials list at the beginning of the book, which includes things like cardboard, toilet-paper tubes, sisal rope, tape, decorative paper and felt. You’ve probably got some of those items lying around your house!

And most of all, this book encourages readers to be inspired to try things that will improve the quality of life for their cats. It’s not that hard! Just make something and if it’s not working, change it. Make the opening bigger, add a comfy cushion. And don’t forget to make it beautiful! That part is for you.

DIY Cat Projects

There are so many fun DIY cat projects in the book including a cardboard tube climber, a food truck pattern using a cardboard box, cardboard scratch pad, airplanes, pirate ships and a yellow submarine! Each project is beautifully illustrated and accompanied by gorgeous photos of very happy cats enjoying their new hangout. I guarantee you’ll be inspired to pull out your glue gun!
