This is so cool! There really aren’t a lot of iPhone apps that make me stop and say “Wow! This is a brilliant use of technology!” but this is one of them. Introducing ResQwalk, an new iPhone app, available on iTunes, that lets you raise money for animal rescue simply by walking. Just install the free app on your iPhone, then the next time you go for a walk (which we should all do regularly!) launch the app and start a new walk. You can choose to raise money for general animal rescue in your area or you can choose your favorite group and all the money you earn will go directly to them.
I went for a walk this morning for one of my favorite animal rescues in Phoenix, All About Animals Rescue. At the end of the month, ResQwalk will tally all the walks people took and divide this month’s donation pool (this month it’s $1,000) according to how many miles were logged for each organization.
ResQwalk ran a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this summer to raise the funds that are currently being distributed. They will be organizing sponsors to fund the app in the future, but they need people to download the app and give it a try. You can get the app from iTunes for free.
Also, if you want to add your rescue organization to their database so you can qualify for donations, visit ResQwalk.com and scroll to the bottom of the page to add your group!
