Drinkwell Lotus Cat Fountain

February 23, 2013 by hauspanther 9 Comments

Lotus Cat Drinking Fountain

The Drinkwell Lotus Pet Fountain continuously circulates your cat’s water, keeping it cleaner and fresher than a stagnant bowl. This multi-level drinking fountain holds 50 ounces and uses a foam filter to remove particles and hair from the water. The multiple free-falling streams encourage cats to drink more water, providing better overall health.

Note: The base and the top portion of the Lotus are ceramic, but the center part is plastic.

Hi, I bought a water fountain, not this one, and had to get rid of it, it was so noisy. The fountain was so irritating. I wonder if that happens with this one. Such a great idea, but not with the noise. Sorry Ginger

Given the serious concerns listed in the Amazon reviews (17 one- and two-star reviews out of 45 is not reassuring to a potential purchaser), especially about breakage and lack of available replacement parts, aren’t you concerned that you are not providing a bit more information to us on the cons of the fountain? I think that would be useful to know. Thanks.

We tried the Lotus Cat Fountain with high hopes but, not only was it annoyingly loud, but it also leaked! Big disappointment- returned it immediately.

I love the idea and look of this, but it needs some work. Even the people that made it don’t like the quality of the item, I’ve got his email. Apparently the company was purchased and according to him, they didn’t use the standards the past people would have liked, and this was the result. I love the way it looks and we even contemplated purchasing it, just didn’t want to pay that much for an item that has so many issues. And it may not be an issue for you, but it is for health reasons to me. But it is advertised as “ceramic”, yet 30-40% is plastic. The entire center tier and the all that you see underwater is plastic. Again, may not be a big deal to you, but that combined with the leaking and cleaning issues reported by users… I went with Pioneers Big Max and have been happy for the past 3 years. Stainless is SUPER easy to clean, as is the simple design. But is super quiet and still going strong 24/7 after all these years. If they could make something that looked similar, but was a little more flushed out, design-wise, I might consider purchasing it.

I bought 2 Drinkwell fountains which last for a very short time then broke. They are costly and not up to their price. Now I am using two Catit fountains, they are much better, a little less costly and my cats seem to like them best.

This fountain is very pretty but it is extremely user unfriendly. Mine arrived broken. When I finally got it working it was very difficult to clean and maintain. It was difficult to reassemble properly and it was prone to leakage. In addition it is sold as a ceramic fountain but large portions of it are plastic. In speaking with the company about this product I also learned that it has been discontinued due to customer dissatisfaction. I cannot reccommend this product however customer service was excellent and I do recommend other products from this company A nice idea with poor execution.

I love the look of this, regardless of the bad reviews, and that picture is adorable…

i purchased this from a petstore and had to throw it away. it was so noisy i had to unplug it at night and one of my cats decided it was a good idea to disassemble it while running or not. the inner pieces just sit in place so she would knock them off and then it ran really noisy and i’m sure would eventually break either the motor or the ceramic. its beautiful but isn’t worth having.
